Navrang Is a contemporary Arts organisation based in Leicester with a focus on the use of traditional art and craft skills in a modern context.
Expressions of interest are sought from artists with an expertise in Indian textiles who are able to run workshops for other artists as a professional development opportunity. Titled 'Influences', the project has been developed to show the value of Traditional art forms in a contemporary Arts practice. The aims of the project are twofold:
1. To keep the art forms from the Asian sub-continent alive through use by contemporary artists.
2. To broaden awareness and raising the profile of South Asian art forms
The professional development workshops will take place between May and June 2005 (dates to be negotiated) culminating in an exhibition of the work produced over August and September at the New Walk Museum & Art Gallery, Leicester.
No details are available at this stage. For an informal discussion please e-mail your name and telephone number to mailto:info@navrangarts.com and
