Last night..(May 16th) I went to the Free Verse Debate at the South Bank Centre. The subject being debated stemmed from a recent report based on a survey of "Publishing Opportunities for Black and Asian Poets." It was really interesting and alot of very valid points were raised. One interesting opinion that was voiced is that many BME poets would rather have their work recognised on merit in the wider arena, than ticking a box for some culturally diverse politically correct organisation.
