Asian actor required to work with BandBazi on R&D of new circus-theatre piece Mindwalking, to play 65+ years old Indian father. Availability - from 5-8 April in Brighton and London with a fee of £250 plus travel. We need a really strong actor who is physically fit.

BandBazi - Mindwalking (description)

Brighton based BandBazi is collaborating with a renowned Indian theatre company to create a unique new piece of circus theatre combining stunningly evocative trapeze imagery and new writing. Mindwalking is being produced in collaboration with Mumbai theatre producer, Quasar Padamsee from Q Theatre Productions, who was Assistant Director of Tim Supple's critically acclaimed A Midsummer Night's Dream. This new show will be directed by John Binnie, Artistic Director of Clyde Unity Theatre, Glasgow.

MINDWALKING will be an aerial drama looking in depth at the voices and memories of elderly people towards the ends of their lives. An elderly Indian man has Alzheimers. He has been placed in the Care Home by his daughter who cannot cope with his behaviour any longer. In his mind it is Mumbai 70 years earlier and he has reverted to his native Gujerati, whilst his daughter can only speak English. They have to find new, sometimes non-verbal ways to communicate. The piece will involve incredible physicality, a compelling narrative and exquisitely delicate aerial imagery. Covering four generations of family it will involve research and development in India and UK, including workshops with the Parsee community in London.

When one’s parents age, the last years of their lives can be used as a time to say all those things you have never articulated before. How can you do that when you find that you no longer speak the same language?
